Welcome to OptiSchool!

There are three components to Optischool:

1. Parents and Students The courses offered here have been developed for Deaf and hard of hearing (D/HH) children, age 0 - 7, their parents and families. The goal is to help D/HH children READ and SUCCEED by developing their linguistic skills and have the same reading and writing skills as their hearing counterparts. The goal is also to help parents learn American Sign Language (ASL) so they can better communicate with their D/HH child. These courses are FREE and can be taken at any time. To enroll in a course, create an account by clicking here. Once you have registered with OptiSchool, you can enroll in any of the courses listed in Parents and Students by clicking on a course name. NOTE: These courses are currently off-line. The courses are being upgraded.
   
   
2. Interpreters and ASL Students The courses offered here have been developed to: (1) help interpreters and ASL students improve their ASL skills and (2) help interpreters receive CEU credits to maintain their certifications. For this reason the courses can be taken for CEU credit or no CEU credit. These courses are available to ANYONE. You can register for the course and pay the course fee through PayPal by clicking on the link for the course. Once you have paid for a course, an enrollment key will be emailed to you that you can use to begin the course. You will have 6 months (180 days) to complete the course. The first course available is ASL Classifiers - An Advanced Course by Kathy Say. For more information on this courses click here. We also have a free course available for students who are reading Triumph of the Spirit: The DPN Chronicle (see below). Students will need an enrollment key provided by their teacher to take the course.
   
   
3. Learn ASL Today The courses offered here have been developed for the general community. These courses have been designed to teach conversational ASL to those who want to learn ASL but are unable to attend classes at their local college or continuing education center. There is a nominal fee for each course. Courses may be purchased through PayPal by clicking on the link for the course. Once you have purchased a course, an enrollment key will be emailed to you that you can use to enter the course. You will have 8 weeks (60 days) to complete the course. NOTE: These courses are currently off-line. The courses are being upgraded.
